In 2025-2026 these students received over 5,000 hours of family systems model training, specialized training for treatment of suicide risk factors, how to assess for suicide risk and much more!

In 2021, John Barela saw a growing need to bring our community together around suicide awareness and prevention. He started what’s now an annual tradition, the Suicide Awareness and Prevention workout.

This year, on September 28, 2025, Donald Sanchez carried that vision forward, leading the event with strength and compassion. Together, participants reminded one another that no one in our community is ever alone. 💙

We’re deeply grateful for community members like John and Donald, whose dedication helps us continue our mission to reduce the risk of youth suicide.
